We train landscape gardeners in an insect-friendly way
In our two seminars, they learn practical knowledge about the value and threat of insects, the cultivation of insect-friendly habitats and the communication of sustainable services.
After the successful completion of the Insectemy, they are considered Insect Respect professionals and can offer their customers certified insect-friendly surface construction.

The course is designed for beginners as well as experts in gardening and landscaping (apprentices, journeymen, master craftsmen, site managers, managers) who:

Our Speakers
The courses take place in small groups of max. 10 people, so we can guarantee high quality and individual support for all participants. There will be two speakers on site, one from the Insect Respect team and the other experts from the industry

Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus: Initiator of Insect Respect.
Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus is the transformative partner of the family business of the same name. With the „Insect Respect“ quality mark launched in 2012, he is committed to a new way of dealing with insects. Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus holds a master’s and doctorate in business administration from the University of St. Gallen. He regularly lectures and publishes on issues of SME management and sustainability. -
Marie André: COO Reckhaus AG, Switzerland.
Marie André studied International Business in Munich. Already in her thesis, she focused on sustainable business processes. In her position as COO, she is responsible, among other things, for implementing sustainable business processes in our daily activities and launching products that promote the protection of insects and create awareness of the endangerment of six-legged friends. Agile change and bridging the gap between business and biodiversity are her core competencies. -
Stephanie Thiessen: Communication Designer and Project Manager at Insect Respect.
She completed her studies in the field of communication design in Düsseldorf. Already during her thesis, she devoted herself to the topic of future ecological innovations and the confrontation between man and nature. With a strong interest in sustainability, she found her way into meaningful work at Reckhaus.

Helge Jung: Self-employed landscape architect.
Landscape architect Helge Jung is a partner in the planning office ARGE Dorfentwicklung GbR, Detmold, and works as a self-employed garden designer in the East Westphalia-Lippe area. For many years, Mr. Jung was chairman of the landscape development initiative Ravensberger-Lichtlandschaften e.V. in the Bielefeld area. Since 2012, Helge Jung has been working as a consultant for the Blooming Landscape Network. -
Dr. Johanna Häckermann: She is chairwoman of the management board of Naturamas in Aarau. She is responsible for environmental education, nature promotion and climate at the well-known centre of excellence for nature and sustainability issues. In addition, she is Vice President of the Education and Architecture Network. Trained as an agricultural engineer, she holds a master’s degree in plant sciences and a doctorate in entomology from ETH Zurich. Johanna Häckermann regularly gives lectures about her passion: the precious animals with six legs.

Dr. Johannes Burri: Specialist in forest plants and seeds. „We always have to be at eye level with the meadow in order to experience it properly. – Dr. Johannes Burri, he focuses on wildflower seed production and has been able to infect numerous professionals with his enthusiasm for wildflowers. In his seed centre with seed production, he himself offers courses on flower meadows in practice. Today, the farm is run by the second generation and is committed to diverse habitats and a rethinking of meadow planning.

The demand for insect-friendly habitats is growing steadily. More and more companies, associations and cities are opting for areas that promote biodiversity. It is becoming increasingly important in society to create areas that are ecologically valuable and provide insects not only with food but also with a habitat.
We take care of the certification of these habitats and offer quality standards based on three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social and economic. In particular, our customers are particularly enthusiastic about the social aspect of our certification – it shows that personal interactions promote a connection with the built areas and insects.

Insect Respect stands for a new way of dealing with insects worldwide
Since 2012, we have been raising awareness of the value of six-legged creatures, creating new habitats and changing society. Become a significant part of our history and future. With Insectemy, we bring landscape gardeners together to make a positive change together. Our team is made up of landscape design and environmental experts who are passionate about protecting insects and promoting their habitats.
Why we take action
Insects pollinate plants, are an important part of the food chain and extremely valuable to science – and that’s not all. The insect population is steadily decreasing dramatically. We humans are taking away the natural habitat of insects by taking up more and more space as we grow. In addition, we kill the small animals with insect repellents and pollute the populations several times. More than 30% of the insect species in their population are already endangered. Nearly 5% are considered extinct. Nature conservation organisations counted 80% fewer insects in parts of Germany than they did about 30 years ago.
